The Story Behind Rooted Living
Rooted Living Program was born from both resilience and purpose.
As a U.S. veteran, a survivor of domestic violence, and someone who has experienced instability firsthand, I know what it feels like to start over with nothing but strength and faith.
As a child, I watched my mother pack our belongings into black trash bags and move us into a single room to escape an unsafe home. That experience — and the pain of losing stability — stayed with me. It taught me that having a safe place to live isn’t just about shelter; it’s about dignity, healing, and the chance to rebuild.
Years later, after I was laid off, I saw the same struggle spreading across our communities. People were losing jobs, homes, and hope. Homelessness was being treated like a crime, yet so many simply needed support, structure, and compassion. My heart was broken — not just for myself, but for others who didn’t have anyone to turn to.
That’s when I knew it was time to act.
I started Rooted Living Program to create a safe, structured, and supportive space for individuals ready to rebuild their lives.
